向杜老致敬

杜老被称为民政的良心，最近大马电视台更称其为国阵的良心。本人曾经和杜老有过几次交谈。给我的印象他是一位很积极主动的学者，不懂的东西他会不耻下问。

说来凑巧，有一会参加雪华堂的讲座（杜老是其中一位主讲者），散会后杜老就主动邀请我们一起吃晚餐。在餐会上他不断鼓励年轻人参加公民社会的运动。我们问他为什么仍然留在国阵，他只说知识份子不一定是大专生，那些真正关心民主，参与公民社会的人才是真正的知识份子，不禁让人对其人格肃然起敬。

后来看到网上对他发文告要求政府关注兴权会的运动，不要打压应该听取他们的困境，表示不同的看法，我斗胆打电话请杜老解释。他很客气的说近期要下来雪州，我们可以见面详谈吗，而且还问我理解相关网站对他的评语。其实他告诉我他因为要参加SUARAM--人权组织的会议有一空挡，可见他虽然身在国阵但是却很关心公民社会的发展，民主政治的落实。

如果你有机会面对面和他交谈，你会发现他真是一个学者，一位君子，但是他也有可爱的一面就是他鼓励青年关心国家民主，可能他曾经梦想可以靠一己之力改变国阵的暴政，但是后期他积极参加Bersih（公选盟）的讲座，给予支持并且表态希望选举公正等言论，可见他对国阵已经失望了。

我个人在此祝福杜老身体健康，继续的、以学识和热诚贡献马来西亚本土民主发展。杜老我向你致敬！


Dr.Toh I pay tribute to you!

Dr Toh Kin Woon known as the conscience of the Gerakan, Malaysian television more recently called the conscience of BN. Dr Toh Kin Woon and I have had several conversations. Gave me the impression he is a very pro-active academics, what do not know then he would ask.

In the meal at encouraging young people to participate in civil society movement. We asked why he remained in the Barisan National, he only said that students are not necessarily intellectuals, those who really care about democracy, participation of civil society is the real talents of intellectuals。

Later, I saw the message on the Internet asking the Government to concern Hindraf the movement, not to suppress should listen to their plight, said a different view。 I'd venture to call the Dr.Toh explained. He was very polite said the recent down to the Selangor state, we can meet dwell on it, but also asked me to understand the relevant site of his reviews. In fact, he told me because he wanted to participate in SUARAM - human rights organizations have a meeting in neutral gear, though he visible in the BN but very concerned about the development of civil society, the implementation of democratic politics.

If you have the opportunity to talk face-to-face with him, you will find that he was really a scholar, a gentleman, but he has a lovely to care about young people encouraged democratic country. He might have their own dreams can rely on the power to change the tyranny of the BN , But he actively participated in the latter part of Bersih (Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections) talks, to give support and hope that the elections are fair position, such as speech, that his BN have been disappointed.

I personally wish Dr.Toh in good health and continued to contribute to knowledge and enthusiasm of local community development of democracy in Malaysia.Dr.Toh I pay tribute to you!
